[Website] How to play Classicube using your browser

->This applies only for Windows (possibly restricted to Win7 users).<- ->By following this procedure, you open your security up to risks that neither I, neither Classicube do NOT assume.<-

As you might be aware of, using the classicube.net browser applet is impossible due to Java (Oracle)'s invasive security. But as you theoretically control all of what happens inside of your PC, here comes "How to play Classicube using your browser".

Image version (QuickFix for the image. Going to do a better one soon.)

->Classicube<-

This is all in images. If by a hazardous reason, you cannot see it, I'll add a text version too

Text Version

  1. Start off by opening up the Windows Start Menu
  2. Type in: Java and click on "Configure Java"
  3. Switch to the Security tab and check Security Level: High and Java Content Enabled in Browser
  4. Add in the exception list the following: "file:/", "https://static.classicube.net", "https://www.classicube.net"

If you have a version of Java having the Medium Security Level still implemented, checking that should be enough.

Confirmed safe to do - You'll still get popups about all applets that try to run, but you'll be able to click through them for our applet.

'Medium' security mostly just allows you to run self-signed applets.

Darnit, I dont have Windows 8.

It's for Windows 7. Also, I tested this on Windows 8. Here would be the steps (very similar):

  1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard in order to get to the Metro styled menu.
  2. Simply type "Java" in and on the right-hand side of your screen, click "Settings".
  3. One result (at least) shall appear on your screen. Click it.
  4. Follow the steps starting off from step 2 in the image.

I'm screwed as far as doing this at school goes...

I'm pretty sure it's for vista+. I followed the same steps on my vista, turned out the same.

I wonder if there is a way to allow java to create an exception for this domain, while still allowing users to keep their Java security level at high.

wait, what is the purpose of this?

it allows users to use the webclient instead of having to run the standalone client.

can't people already play it?

not if they have the new Java update (java 7 update 45 is the last one i think to use it without having to do this) and don't want to download the client

Indeed there is. You might have noticed it already: Image

Just at the Security tab, there's an "Exception Site List". Write in "http://www.classicube.net", "http://static.classicube.net" and "file:/". (This works with Medium security settings too)

Why the static and file thing? Because the applet is stored on the static subdomain of classicube. Aswell, there are some files stored inside your PC ("file:/"). Image2

It is working for me and im useing window 7

This was tested ON windows 7. He just didn't mention it as it kind of was stated in the original post.

andrew, why can´t you add a singleplayer Place on the website for those that can play it on the browser?

AndrewPH time for dominate Wed Oct 29 at 18:42:27 (2014)

Because we'll be phasing out applet support to fix a critical bug soon.

Hey the images don't work
