Sorry for the inconvenience

As time passed, we had to live with the invasive protection of Java and their unbreakable shields that would not let us carry the pleasure of Classicube back to the browsers. And as the solution of using the Standalone client came up, making it shine on the screens of the last Minecraft Classic partisans around, the portability of our so loved game went down.

Not as much of a problem for me back in the days when I used to play Classicube, as I found a trick allowing me to play it even on the browser by using your applet. "Why try to break our PC's Java shields when we can simply lower them down?". As so, I searched for a Java Security menu or such.

That came up quickly as I was using a Windows 7 and this Operating System is quite intuitive. I supposed that the Classicube team will find this solution quickly and propose it besides the client. But even after few months, once I got back to Classicube, I cannot see anyone using or mentioning this trick. THEREFORE, here I am.

Side Note: I'm not totally sure that this will work for every Java version or browser (I'm using Chrome here). Second Side Note: I'm not sure at all whether this works for any other OS. Third and last Side Note: For me, the game does not work by putting the security Level back up. If anyone finds this thread useless as the game works now or that this is a known trick, please let me know.

BRIEFLY: I'd suggest that you also mention this solution for using the applet on the website.

Good parts: Portability Permanent solution

Bad parts: -Not the easiest way -Lowers the Java Security for ALL the websites/applets or anything (don't worry if you never use any other browser java apps)

STEP-BY-STEP:

1) In Images: http://puu.sh/8Nkeh.png

2) In Words:

  1. Start off by opening up the Windows Start Menu: http://puu.sh/8NftM.png

  2. Type in: Java and click on "Configure Java": http://puu.sh/8Ng3P.png

  3. Switch to the Security tab and lower the Security Level down to Medium: http://puu.sh/8NgzI.png

If the Classicube Team finds this useful, they can use this however they want. Don't worry about the time I spent into this. I love making tutorials and such.

You should repost those instructions in 'tutorials'. Start it off with [Website]

It's worth noting that Linux users are not affected. OpenJDK's JRE lacks the silly limitations that Oracle's JRE has.

I'll stick a link to the tutorial on the 'play' page, once you repost it.

Alright. Any instructions regarding the post editor?
