Hello. I need some help setting up my server. I don't know what to fill in on the table of this screenshot: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/random-junk/images/4/47/Portforward.png/revision/latest?cb=20151122093654

==My server plan== I want to make a server which is similar to Royal Kingdom, back in the old days it was my favourite server and I'm surprised so few people from there are here. I only discovered this site yesterday. (my friend from another community i'm in now showed me it)

Good luck getting people on your server, let alone keeping a userbase. I don't remember what that server was about, but unless you have a circle of friends, or if the server isn't a freebuild with 30+ ranks with easy OP, chances are your server won't take off like it needs to.

The truth is, people would rather play minigames like lavasurvival and zombiesurvial, rather than straight-up building, and I have enough experience with this game to state the things I have said. But again, it's all about making the right connections and having some sort of plan in mind.

Having a unique server theme helps, too.

You can try looking at http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DSL-3780/Minecraft_Server.htm which has all the information you need about how to port forward for your particular router.

You can get your internal IP by opening command prompt and typing "ipconfig" into it. The internal IP should be listed as 'IPv4 address' or 'IPv6 address'.

Ok, thanks, I've also portforwarded on Mcaffe. but it says it's closed on http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DSL-3780/Minecraft_Server.htm. Do you use 25565 or another number for the port? or is there something else I need to port-forward?

Personally I would use http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ for testing if a port is open.

I would suggest just sticking with 25565, as it is the default port used by most classic server software. Also, you did unblock the server software from both the Windows Firewall and Mcafee Firewall (if it has one, not sure)?

how do you portforward for your Windows firewall?

You don't need to port forward for windows firewall if I recall, you just need to 'allow' the server software when it pops up a dialog.

The process for McAfee is described at http://portforward.com/english/routers/firewalling/McAfee/McAfeeSecurityCenter/Minecraft_Server.htm
